Presentation of the lagotto romagnolo
The lagotto romagnolo, also known as the Romagna water dog, is a breed that originated in Romagna, Italy. This type of dog was originally used as a waterfowl hunting dog in the marshes of Comacchio and Ravenna. Following the drying up of these marshes, the Lagotto Romagnolo breed has become a breed of truffle dogs.

Maintenance and genetic diseases
Energetic and sport-loving, the Lagotto Romagnolo must be walked regularly for its physical and mental well-being. In terms of genetic disease, this breed can suffer from 2 diseases: juvenile benign epilepsy (JBE) and Lysosomal Storage Disease (LSD), a fatal neurodegenerative disease. However, only three lines have been impacted by LSD in France and DNA screening tests exist for these 2 diseases.
